Confirmation
One of the Sacraments of Initiation into the Church, together with Baptism and Eucharist. Confirmation completes the grace of Baptism by a special outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which seal or "confirm" the baptized in union with Christ and equip them for active participation in the worship and apostolic life of the Church. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, p. 872)
Adult Confirmation
In an effort to
“open wide the doors to Christ” for the people of our diocese, permission has been extended for pastors to confirm adults in their parishes on Pentecost. St. Mark the Evangelist invites our
practicing
adult Catholics
(18 years of age and out of high school), who lack the Sacrament of Confirmation, to be sealed with the fullness of the gift of the Holy Spirit.
If you are currently
a registered member of St. Mark the Evangelist
and
a practicing adult Catholic in good standing who has already received the Sacrament of Baptism and Eucharist, you are invited to register and attend the preparation class on
Mon. May 7, 2018 beginning at
6:30pm, in
the Main Conference Room Ste. 202, located in the Smyth Pastoral Center. Sponsors are welcome to attend, although it is not required. Adult Confirmation will be celebrated at the Vigil Mass for Pentecost on
Saturday, May 19, at the 5:30pm Mass.
Please note: If you lack both Confirmation and Eucharist/Holy Communion, there are additional classes that must be attended in order to be confirmed at Pentecost. The classes will be held Mon. Apr. 9, 16, 23, 30, & May 7 at 6:30pm in the same location noted above.
All paperwork should be turned in to the Faith Formation Office (located in the St. Mark Parish Center) prior to attending the class.

There is a two year middle school program for 7th and 8th grade students, including high school age students.
